Welcome to my home page, life and world.

I have been professionally engaged in science, technology and engineering for over 40 years, and my primary focus remains the solving of problems and the creation of wealth through the application of new technologies and business solutions.
During my life I have had the good fortune to work with exceptional people in governments, companies and major international operations, but the icing on the cake has been the creation and management of teams up to 2500 people with budgets in excess of £1Bn, and my senior roles as CTO, CEO and Director in the UK and USA.
At the same time I have also been a visiting professor, advisor, and external examiner to major universities in the EU and USA, and continue to be actively engaged as a consultant, advisor, speaker and mentor with investment interests in start up companies. But that is not all....

Cloud networks are inherently more secure than anything we have experienced before.         The internet will not scale to 7Bn people and >50Bn things on line.          The value in Big Data will be eclipsed by that in Meta Data.         Employment as we know it will be gone within 30 years.          Cloud networks are a necessity and not an option.          People are always the biggest security risk.          Solutions to our major problems do not reside in human minds but those of machines.          The half life of knowledge is now measured in months and years and not lifetimes.          People work with and for people, but soon, they will be working for machines.          Our primary limitation is a fundamental inability to deal with complexity.          Our education system is badly broken and cannot be fixed.          Decoding genome and protein communication will radically transform the pharma industry.         We have to stop manufacturing more & more for the few and start providing for the many.          Sensor tech will transform medicine as self diagnosis overtakes professional opinion.          Sustainability will not be achieved by old technologies and increased efficiently.          We have to stop over optimising and go for good enough and resiliency.          All the hardware we will purchase in the next 5 years is in the development labs now.         The science of the technologies spanning the next 5 years is done and dusted.          Sustainability will not be realised by improving industries and methods.          Recycling does not address the fundamental issue.
